Author’s Notes

On June 29, 2009 Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in jail for running a multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme that defrauded literally thousands of individuals. At the time of this writing, roughly 17 billion dollars is still unaccountable and has spawned a cottage industry of treasure hunters retracing Madoff’s movements in search of where he may have stashed the money. “The Hunt for Madoff’s Treasure,” takes you behind the scenes through a dramatization of two men, unbeknownst to each other, which seek through nefarious means, one of the largest illegal treasures in history. Let me first introduce you to one of these men, Max Rosen. Max started his career on Madison Ave during the heyday commonly referred to as the era of the “Mad Men.” A smooth, slick, button down lot of hucksters who controlled the media and influenced the buying habits of the nation. It was also an industry rife with alcohol, drugs, sex and gratifying the whims and desires of their major clients. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, an advertising account manager would not do to sign up a new client…hold on to the client…and service the client. In this circus environment, Max excelled…until he fell in love and no longer needed to prove himself by catering to the hungry lions in his office. That’s when he became a big-time freelancer for hire to a Wall Street titan and was given an impossible assignment. Follow Max’s escapades as he assembles a team to pull off one of the most bazaar and dangerous assignments he’s ever been hired to do. An assignment that will either put him on easy street for life…or in prison for life…or worse. Now let me introduce you to our deuteragonist (a fancy word for our secondary main character) Joe Mancuso. Joe had it all… NYPD Detective in the Silk Stocking district of Manhattan, wife and kids in the burbs, a sweet looking hooker on the Upper East Side, and all the coke he could stuff up his nose. Man he was living…until he made an itsy bitsy mistake. He left a kilo of coke in the trunk of his car and mistakenly parked…well, in front of his precinct…and guess what? A passing police dog, you know the one’s trained to sniff out drugs, just happened to pass by his car and naturally, well…she went ballistic. They didn’t even give him a chance to explain…“I was on my way to deliver the coke to the property room when…” “Save the bullshit Joe and clean out your locker.” Luckily, Joe had a friend that vouched for him and his rehabilitation. Clean, sober, and willing to start at the bottom, Joe was hired by one of the largest private investigation agencies in the country and after a probation period was given an assignment no one wanted…“go find Madoff’s treasure.” You’ll love Joe antics…he’s a natural as long as he can keep his penchant for passion in his pants…but that’s another matter. However, be prepared to fasten your seatbelt when you follow Joe…he’s a wild man. Oh and by the way…did I mention that this is a work of fiction where names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner? O.K, now I did.
